Welcome to Blue whale and dolphin watching in Mirissa Sri Lanka, the Wonder of Asia,
Sri Lanka is an island of just 65,000 square kilometers, located off the southern tip of the Indian subcontinent, right in the Blue whale and Sperm whale migration path. The continental shelf along the southwestern Sri Lankan coast starts quite close to the shore. During the whale migration season it’s easy to spot Blue whale, Sperm Whale & Dolphins off the coast of Sri Lanka. Nowhere in the world do Blue whale & Sperm whales come so close to the shore, or so reliably spotted as in regular whale watching tours during the whale migration season in Sri Lanka. This gives a visitor the unique opportunity of watching and observing the mesmeric activities of these Ocean giants and the ever smiling spinner Dolphins, quite close to the shore.
The very first whale watching tours has started way back in the early 1980 and then due to lack of promotion the activity was conducted to a few die hard individuals. However after the cessation of violence, the number of tourist coming to Sri Lanka on adventure, whale and Dolphin watching has increased many times. The Blue whale and Sperm whale and Dolphin spotting in Sri Lanka is concentrated along the southwest coast of Mirissa and Dondra point, where early morning Whale and Spinner Dolphin tours are arranged in basic small boats with outboard motors to luxury boats. Our state of the art boats are equipped with all necessary gear to locate and follow whales at a safe distance as not to disturb them.
The whale watching tours are arranged depending on the size of the whale watching group available during a particular day.
The smaller boat is available for day trips, to be chartered for whale and dolphin watching with crew/naturalist and skipper along with all necessary provisions for a day. This would be a great option if you are traveling as a group or family where you can have your own private trip on a luxury boat while enjoying the Ocean giants off the coast of Mirissa.
You”ll be out on the open ocean so you should bring sun block, sunglasses, and perhaps some warmer clothes.
All passengers will be provided a picnic breakfast.
